and Pharmacological Effect of the Extract of Domestic Crataegus Pinnatifida Bge. var.
major N. E. Br. |
In recent years ,the plant Research Institute of the Chinese
Academy of Sciences, the Chemical Research Institute of the CAS, the Chinese University of
Pharmacy, the Shanghai Research Institute of Medicinal Industries, Guangzhou Zhongshan
University, Nanjing College of Traditional chinese Medicine, Hunan Medical
College,Shandong Medical University, the Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine
of Shandong Province, the Drug Control Institute of Shandong Province, Shanxi Medical
College, Jilin Agricultural University, Jilin Agricultural Academy of Sciences, and other
colleges and universities, research departments and drug control institutes have made
extensive and fairly thorough studies of the chemical composition or pharmacological
effect of domestic Crataegus Pinnatifida Bge. var: major N. E. Br. ,and have extracted and
then separated from the dried ripe fruit of Crataegus Pinnatifida Bge. var. major N. E.
Br. flavonoid, triterpenes, tannin, linoleic acid, lemon tincture, malic acid, chlorogenic
acid, carotin, vitamin C, vitamin BI, B2, trace elements and other ingredients. They have
also carried out pharmacological research on the Fructus Crataegi extract. What follows is
a list of the composition and pharmacological effects of the extract of domestic Crataegus
Pinnatifida Bge. var. major N. E. Br.

Pharmacological Effect |
Flavoncid:
Quercetin
Hyperoside
Epicatechin
Flavan polyiners |
Lowers blood pressure, expands coronary blood vessels,
increases 'coronary flow, raises the permeability of cardiac capillaries and myocardial
fibers, increases the nutritional volume of blood flow of the myocardium; has a protective
effect on experimental myocardiac infarction in rabbits and dogs ,and has the effect of
preventing and alleviating experimental myocardial ischemia, hypoxia, and myocardial
necrosis in hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits ; has the explicit function of lowering the
blood-lipidity of suckling and young hamsters and is effective in lowering the serum
cholesterol and B-lipoprotein of rabbits afflicted with experimental hyperlipemia. |
Triterpenes:
Ursolic acid
Aleanolic acid
Crataegolic acid |
Lowers blood-lipidity and blood pressure and resists
atherosclerosis; can increase the volume of blood flow of the coronary blood vessels and
improve coronary heart circulation so as to compensate for coronary arterial failure,
strengthen the heart, raise the sensitivity of the rnyocardium to the action of cardiac
glycoside, increase cardiac output ,and attenuate myocardial irritability and
conductibility; has the function of resisting ventricular fibrillation, auricular
fibrillation and paroxysmal arrhythmia; is also effective in restoring the pulse of an
exhausted heart. |
Tannin
Flavonoid tannin |
Can give rise to marked and long-term coronary arteriectasia
in a guinea pig's heart;at the same time can enhance the amplitude of vibration of cardiac
contraction ;can also increase the flow of the coronary artery of a dog's heart in vivo. |
The seeds of Domestic
Crataegus Pinnatifida
Bge. var. major N. E.
Br.:
Ursolic acid
Aleanolic acid
Quercetin
Hyperoside
linloeic acid |
Lowers the blood serum of a quail afflicted with
hypercholesterolemia by Tc33. 7'-' 62. 8% and lowers (LDC+VLDC)-C by 34.4'--65.6%; can
tangibly lower the ratio of Tc/HDL-C and decrease the sedimentation of cholesterol and
cholesterol lipidity in the arterial parietes.; function increases with the increase of
the dosage of the drug, indicating a preventive effect on atherosclerosis. |
