General Statement     Fructus Crataegi is extracted from the dried riqe fruit of the Crataegus Pinnatifida Bge. Var. major N. E. Br. or Crataegus Pinnatifida Bge. ,the plant belongs to the rose family. It is recorded in Compendium of Materia Medica that this product, "sour, sweet and slightly warm, can eliminate undigested food as stomachic and reinforce the spleen. "Records of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in Combination,a modern authority,claims that Fructus Crataegi,"easily absorbed into the blood stream ,is an important medicine for the dispersal of blood stasis ,and that ,if taken together with sweet drugs ,can remove blood stasis without harming the fresh blood, relieve stagnation without damaging the vital function, and is especialfy mild in nature. "Contemporary research proves Fructus Crataegi has pharmacological effects on the cardiovascular system in many ways.
